Under the Namami Gange Mission: PM Narendra Modi inaugurates 6 mega projects in Uttarakhand

  • PM Modi inaugurates six mega projects in Uttarakhand under the Namami Gange Mission on 29th September 2020 through video conference. Also, he will also inaugurate “Ganga Avalokan” museum, the first museum on Ganga which is dedicated to showcasing the culture, biodiversity and rejuvenation activities done in Ganga river.
  • The Ganga Avalokan museum is located at Chandi Ghat, Haridwar. He unveiled the logo of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and ‘Margdarshika for Gram Panchayats and Paani Samitis under Jal Jeevan Mission.’

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to visit Japan, Hold QUAD meeting

  • The External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is to visit Japan on Oct 6, & Oct 7, 2020.
  • During the visit, the minister will hold talks with his Japanese counterpart and also will attend a ministerial meeting of Quadrilateral Coalition.

Serum Institute of India to produce additional 100 million doses for India: COVID-19 Vaccine

  • Serum Institute of India recently announced that it will produce additional 100 million COVID-19 vaccines for low- and middle- income countries by 2021.
  • Earlier, the institute had committed to deliver 100 million vaccines. Now a total of 200 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines are to be delivered to India by 2021.

India-Bangladesh to hold virtual summit

  • On Sep 30, 2020, India and Bangladesh will hold 6th round of Joint Consultative Commission meet. The summit is to be held between the Prime Ministers of both the countries.
  • The announcement about the summit was made by the External Affairs Minister S Jai Shankar. Along with this, he also made the following announcements
    • On December 16, 2020, India will release a commemorative stamp on the birth centenary of Bangabandhu. This is being done to appreciate the gesture of Bangladeshi Government to release a commemorative stamp on Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of 150th year of his birth anniversary.
    • A Bangabandhu-Bapu Digital Museum is to be established to commemorate 150 years of Mahatma and celebrate Mujib Barsho.

Google makes Play Billings mandatory for in-app purchases from Sep 2021

  • On Tuesday Google  said apps that choose to sell digital content through its Play Store have to use Google Play billing system & pay a percentage of the in-app purchase as fee.
