Indian missions in UAE open online registration for its citizens who wish to fly home-COVID-19
Dubai – The Indian missions in the UAE have opened online registration for the expatriates who wish to fly back home after getting stuck in the country amidst the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. On Wednesday night, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has announced that the details of data collection through the website of the Indian Consulate in Dubai, the Gulf News reported.
“Embassy of India has informed that Abu Dhabi & the Consulate General of India, Dubai, have started a database to register Indians wishing to travel back to India under COVID-19 Pandemic situation. Details can be entered through the website of the Embassy www.indianembassyuae.gov.in or Consulate www.cgidubai.gov.in by following the link ‘Register in Database of Indians to Travel Back to India under COVID-19 situation’,” India in Dubai tweeted on Thursday.
“Also they are entered by following the link www.cgidubai.gov.in/covid_register,” it tweeted.
US Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced USD 3 million to support India’s COVID-19 efforts
New Delhi – The US government, through its aid agency USAID, has announced an additional grant of $3 million to help India combat the coronavirus pandemic. On April 6, the USAID had announced a grant of $2.9 million to India to mitigate the spread of the deadly virus.
US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster said the additional funding will further support India’s response to COVID-19.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Wednesday widened its probe into the fraud at bailed-out lender Yes Bank NSE 0.89 %, seeking to investigate former Life Insurance Corp chairman GP Kohli, who was also an independent director at the defaulting shadow bank DHFL.

US President Donald Trump says China wants him to lose his bid for re-election
WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he believes China’s handling of the coronavirus is proof that Beijing “will do anything they can” to make him lose his re-election bid in November.
Interview with Reuters in the Oval Office, Donald Trump talked tough on China & said he was looking at different options in terms of consequences for Beijing over the virus. “I can do a lot,” he said.

German company begins testing a possible vaccine
Berlin – German pharmaceutical company BioNTech has said it has begun testing a potential vaccine for the new coronavirus on volunteers. BioNTech, which is working with U.S.-based Pfizer NSE -0.55 %, said Wednesday that 12 participants of a clinical trial in Germany have received doses of the vaccine candidate BNT162 since April 23.
Numerous pharmaceutical companies are racing to deliver a vaccine for the virus that has caused a pandemic and led to more than 215,000 deaths worldwide and sickened at least three million people.
BioNTech has said in a statement that in the next step, it will begin increasing the dose of BNT162 in a trial involving about 200 participants aged 18 to 55.

Cumin, Coriander is likely to be hit as Virus cases rise
Gujarat & Rajasthan are the main producers of these spices, which are heavily sought after by curry masala companies. Cumin/jeera is the second-largest exported spice from the country. The harvest of both commodities got over in March & farmers are left with heavy stock. As the mandis in Gujarat are not operational, some traders who are into exports are traveling to interior areas and buying directly from growers.
